A: The industry guideline for scent per pound of wax is 0.5 ounces. 1 ounce of fragrance per pound of wax is used for double-scenting. Use 1.5 ounces of fragrance per pound of wax to triple-scent your candles. Make sure the wax you’re using can contain that amount of fragrance.
Multiply 8×8=64 oz of wax if you’re producing 8-8 ounce candles. Then 64 x 6% (.06) equals 3.84. For 64 ounces of wax, you might round up to 4 ounces of fragrance oil.
For a single eight-ounce candle, we recommend adding 30 to 40 drops of essential oils. Keep in mind that soy and beeswax aren’t known for their smell throwing abilities. Start with 30 drips if you’re worried your candle will be too strong.

Add your fragrance oil when your wax is at the right temperature: Adding your fragrance oil while your wax is at the right temperature will help it bind to the wax, giving you a stronger aroma throw. If your candles aren’t producing a strong enough hot throw, you may wish to lower the temperature at which the fragrance oil is added. It’s possible that some of the aroma is being burned off due to the melted wax’s heat. This is caused by adding your scent at too high a temperature.
